Massachusetts Gun Owners: Please Act NOW!

80 Percent Arms   |   Jun 28th 2023

To all our customers and Bay Stater friends,

As a part of the 80 percent builder community - we need your urgent attention and action regarding a new legislative proposal in your state that could significantly undermine your freedoms and the future of firearm ownership in our nation.

The legislation, currently identified as Bill HD.4420, the "House Gun Safety Bill", has been introduced in your state government. This bill seeks to heavily regulate 80% lowers and frames AKA what they call "ghost guns". If passed, the bill could infringe on your Second Amendment rights by severely restricting your ability to build your own firearms and possess ones you’ve already made.

We firmly stand for the rights of law-abiding citizens to build their own firearms. This has been a longstanding American tradition and a fundamental aspect of our Second Amendment rights. This bill threatens those rights by placing undue burdens on law-abiding gun owners while doing very little to prevent criminals from obtaining firearms illegally.

This is why we urge you to take action.

Here's what you can do

  • Make your voice heard: When you reach out, be clear that you oppose the current form of the House Gun Safety Bill and demand that our lawmakers protect our Second Amendment rights.
  • Spread the word: Share this information with friends, family, and social media. The more people reach out to their representatives, the stronger our collective voice.

We have prepared a template that you can use for your correspondence. The template is included to make this process easier, but feel free of course to add your own experiences or thoughts and modify as you see fit!

Dear [Representative's Name],

I am a resident of [Your Location] and I am writing to express my deep concern over the House Gun Safety Bill. While I fully support measures to keep firearms out of the hands of criminals, I believe this bill is a misguided attempt that burdens law-abiding citizens more than it effectively combats crime.

The proposed restrictions on "ghost guns" or self-assembled firearms are problematic. It has been a longstanding tradition in our country for law-abiding citizens to build their own firearms. This bill, in its current form, puts this tradition, and our Second Amendment rights at risk.

I urge you to oppose Bill HD.4420 and work towards legislation that effectively targets the misuse of firearms without infringing on the rights of law-abiding citizens.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]

Who are my public representatives?

Massachusetts's current national senators are Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) and Ed Markey (D-Mass). The Bay State is a bicameral state meaning you have a State Senate and a State House of Representatives.

The Mass State Senate has 40 members with each state senator representing a district of about 164,000 residents. Your state senate is also known as "the General Court."

The Mass State House of Representatives consists of 160 members with each representative representing districts of about 40,000 residents each.

Again, to find out who your public representatives are in Massachusetts find out here by clicking on the link and inputting your residence's zip code.

Why this action is important?

The importance of standing up and making our voices heard cannot be emphasized enough. Together, we can ensure the continued protection of our Second Amendment rights. We appreciate your support and your commitment to our shared values.

Thank you for taking action,

The 80 Percent Arms Team
