Kamala Harris' Plan to Use Databases for Gun Confiscation
Kamala Harris is once again making headlines with her aggressive gun control agenda. As the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, she has a history of threatening to use databases of gun owners to send police to their homes to confiscate firearms. Back in August 2019, at a Democratic presidential primary forum held shortly after mass shootings in California and Texas, Harris boldly outlined her plans.
She stated she was “prepared to take executive action” to enforce comprehensive background checks, crack down on gun dealers, and ban the import of so-called assault weapons. As California's attorney general, she claimed to have sent police to "knock on the doors of people" on a state list of prohibited gun owners. For her, this approach was essential to tackle gun violence on all fronts.
When asked about her current stance on government seizure of firearms, the Harris campaign has been suspiciously silent. However, her actions speak volumes. Last March, she announced the launch of the National Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) Resource Center, funded by the Justice Department. This center supports the implementation of state red flag laws, which allow for judicial orders to temporarily strip individuals of their gun rights.
This initiative is already facing strong opposition from nearly 20 GOP state attorneys general, who argue that the ERPO Resource Center advocates for laws that "suspend fundamental rights under the Second Amendment with no genuine due process." Their message is clear: "The solution to gun violence is not more bureaucracy, and it is certainly not parting otherwise law-abiding citizens from their right to self-defense."
In a recent development, Harris' advisers indicated to The New York Times that she no longer supports a mandatory buyback of civilian-owned "assault weapons" and other progressive policies from her 2020 campaign. Despite this, her track record suggests she remains committed to undermining our gun rights.
John Feinblatt of Everytown, a gun-control advocacy group, praised Harris for her leadership in the White House’s Office of Gun Violence Prevention, highlighting her efforts to eliminate gun manufacturers' immunity from liability and push for assault weapon bans and expanded background checks.
Feinblatt criticized Trump and Vance, claiming their "guns everywhere" approach is out of touch with common sense and public opinion. He touted Harris as a steadfast champion of "common sense" gun laws.
Let’s be clear: Kamala Harris continues her relentless assault on our Second Amendment rights. It’s up to us to stand strong and defend our freedoms. It's essential to take proactive steps in safeguarding our Second Amendment rights. Building your own firearms not only reinforces your constitutional freedoms but also ensures your ability to protect yourself and your loved ones in an uncertain future. With increasing government overreach and attempts to impose restrictive gun laws, it's crucial to stay vigilant, informed, and engaged in the fight to preserve our right to bear arms. By exercising your rights responsibly and supporting the community of lawful gun owners, we can collectively push back against those who seek to dismantle our freedoms. Remember, your right to self-defense is fundamental, and building your own firearms is a powerful way to assert your independence and commitment to the Second Amendment.
