Anti-Gun Politicians Are at It Again: The Absurd Lawsuits Against Glock

80 Percent Arms   |   Feb 14th 2025

The gun control machine is running out of ideas, so they’ve turned to their favorite strategy—blaming law-abiding gun manufacturers for the actions of criminals. This time, their target is Glock, one of the most widely trusted firearm brands in the world. From New Jersey to Chicago, anti-gun bureaucrats are rolling out coordinated lawsuits to attack the company for allegedly producing firearms that are “too easily modified” into machine guns.

Yes, you read that right. Instead of going after criminals—you know, the ones actually committing crimes—these lawsuits claim it’s Glock’s fault that bad actors are illegally modifying firearms.

This is nothing new. It’s the same tired game anti-gun states have been playing for decades—blame the manufacturer, not the criminal. And once again, they’re using your tax dollars to push an agenda that has nothing to do with public safety and everything to do with disarming law-abiding Americans.

New Jersey & Minnesota: Same Script, Different State

Leading the charge is New Jersey’s Attorney General, Matthew Platkin, who sued Glock, claiming that its handguns pose a “public nuisance” because of their supposed ability to be converted into fully automatic weapons.

Never mind the fact that federal law already prohibits automatic weapons without a proper license. Never mind that modifying a firearm in this way is already illegal. New Jersey’s lawsuit isn’t about enforcing existing laws—it’s about finding new ways to undermine the firearms industry and chip away at the Second Amendment.

Minnesota has hopped on the bandwagon, because apparently, nothing says “we’re fighting crime” like suing a company that has zero involvement in illegal activity. Instead of cracking down on criminals, these states would rather punish manufacturers who provide law-abiding citizens with self-defense tools.

Baltimore & Maryland: A Distraction from Their Own Failures

It’s no secret that Baltimore is one of the most violent cities in America. The city has been plagued by decades of failed leadership, corrupt policies, and soft-on-crime enforcement. So what’s their solution? Blame Glock.

Maryland officials are now suing the company, claiming that its handguns are fueling gun violence because criminals illegally modify them. What they fail to mention is that criminals don’t follow gun laws, and no lawsuit is going to change that.

Baltimore’s leadership refuses to acknowledge the obvious: their own failed policies—including defunding the police, catch-and-release justice, and lenient sentencing—are responsible for the city’s crime rate. Instead, they’re looking for a scapegoat.

Their goal isn’t to reduce crime. Their goal is to set a legal precedent that could be used to bankrupt firearm manufacturers.

Chicago: The Gun Control Blueprint for Failure

If you want to see what gun control failure looks like, look no further than Chicago. The city has some of the strictest gun laws in the country—and yet, criminals still run rampant. Now, Chicago’s leadership is suing Glock, claiming the company should be held responsible for the illegal activities of criminals.

Sound familiar? It’s the same argument the city used in the 1990s and early 2000s when they tried to sue gun manufacturers into oblivion. The strategy failed then, and it will fail now.

Chicago refuses to acknowledge reality: criminals don’t walk into a gun store, pass a background check, and then commit crimes. They steal guns, buy them on the black market, or obtain them through straw purchases—all of which are already illegal.

But rather than addressing the real problem, Mayor Brandon Johnson and his allies are suing Glock to deflect from their own incompetence.

This Isn’t About Safety—It’s About Dismantling the Second Amendment

Let’s be clear: these lawsuits have nothing to do with public safety. If they did, these cities would focus on enforcing existing laws instead of trying to bankrupt a firearm manufacturer.

This is part of a larger legal strategy to circumvent the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA)—the federal law that prevents gun manufacturers from being held liable for crimes committed by third parties. These anti-gun states and cities want to create loopholes that would allow them to sue gun companies into oblivion.

The goal is simple: if they can’t ban guns outright, they’ll try to destroy the companies that make them.

The Bottom Line: A Direct Attack on Gun Owners

This fight isn’t just about Glock—it’s about every gun owner in America. If these lawsuits succeed, what’s stopping them from going after other firearm manufacturers next?

  • They failed to pass national gun control legislation.

  • They failed to ban “assault weapons” through Congress.

  • They failed to stop Americans from embracing private gun ownership in record numbers.

So now, they’re going after the supply chain, hoping to cripple the industry through endless legal battles.

The gun control lobby is playing the long game, weaponizing the courts to achieve what they couldn’t accomplish through legislation. And if they win, you can bet this won’t stop with Glock.

What Can You Do?

  1. Stay informed – These lawsuits are just one piece of the anti-gun agenda. Gun owners need to be aware of the bigger picture.

  2. Support pro-2A organizations – Groups that fight back against legal attacks on gun rights need support now more than ever.

  3. Push back on anti-gun politicians – If your state or city is involved in these lawsuits, make your voice heard. Contact your representatives and demand they stop attacking law-abiding gun owners.

This isn’t just about a single lawsuit—it’s about the future of gun rights in America. If they win this battle, they won’t stop until they’ve dismantled the entire firearms industry.
